Controversial crossdresser, Okuneye Idris, widely recognized as Bobrisky, was taken off a KLM flight bound for Amsterdam late Thursday night and subsequently detained by immigration officers while attempting to leave Nigeria.
In a dramatic turn of events, Bobrisky took to his Instagram account to inform his followers about his arrest, revealing that he had sustained injuries during a confrontation with the immigration officials.
He expressed his distress, writing, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”
The controversy surrounding Bobrisky intensified after he was reportedly intercepted on October 22 at the Sème border as he allegedly tried to escape the country.
His legal troubles began earlier in 2024, in April 2024, when he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse.
Although officially incarcerated at Kirikiri Prison, reports emerged that Bobrisky only spent three weeks there before being discreetly relocated to a private facility.
This move sparked rampant speculation regarding the possibility of bribery, with allegations suggesting that a ₦15 million payment had been made to officials to secure his transfer and favorable treatment.
The situation took another twist in late September 2024 when social media influencer VeryDarkMan released an audio recording purportedly featuring Bobrisky.
In this leaked conversation, Bobrisky allegedly claimed that music artist Falz and his father, renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, approached him during his time in prison, soliciting ₦10 million in exchange for securing a presidential pardon.
In response to these serious allegations, both Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on October 16, 2024, demanding a retraction and a public apology for what they labeled defamatory remarks.
However, Bobrisky denied the authenticity of the claims, insisting he was not responsible for the leaked content and calling on the Falanas to hold VeryDarkMan accountable instead.
This series of events highlights the ongoing tumult surrounding Bobrisky, as his public persona continues to provoke strong reactions and controversies within the Nigerian social media landscape.
