Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, expressed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with security agencies to address the challenges of kidnapping, cultism, and other criminal activities in the state.
According to The PUNCH, this was highlighted during his speech at a thanksgiving service held on Tuesday at the Government House Chapel in Asaba, in commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of Delta State’s creation.
Oborevwori emphasized the importance of peace for sustainable development, saying, “On security across the state, I pledge to continue doing my best to ensure peace and security in the state. Only through sustainable peace can enduring development thrive in the state.”
He outlined his administration’s efforts over the past 15 months, which have focused on advancing Delta State’s development through significant investments in infrastructure across various sectors.
“In the past 15 months, we have demonstrated our resolve to keep Delta State ahead in all social and economic development indices,” he noted.
The Governor also detailed the state’s initiatives to bolster infrastructure, improve healthcare, enhance education, and support vulnerable populations through social investment programs.
He assured that his administration remains dedicated to partnering with security agencies to safeguard the state’s residents, stating, “We are also collaborating with security agencies in tackling the issues of kidnapping, cultism, and other crimes to ensure that safety and security of all residents in Delta State is guaranteed.”
Reflecting on his MORE Agenda for Delta, he reiterated the administration’s focus on peace and security.
“Like I promised Deltans in my MORE Agenda, we will continue to enhance peace and security; we are doing our best because when you look at what is happening in other states, you will know that we are trying as a state,” Oborevwori said.
Acknowledging the ongoing challenges, Oborevwori expressed continued support for security agencies, noting, “I know that there are lots of challenges, but I will continue to encourage the security agencies; we will continue to partner to ensure peace in Delta State because it is only through sustainable peace that development can come to this state.”
Earlier in the service, the State Mission Overseer of Living Faith Church, Pastor Shiyanbade Adekunle, delivered a sermon titled, The Power Of Collective Thanksgiving’, where he urged all residents of Delta State to be grateful for the blessings and progress in their lives and the state.
