The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has announced that the Premium Motor Spirit commonly referred to as petrol, produced at his refinery will deliver enhanced engine protection compared to the lower-grade, often unclear petrol typically available on the market.
Speaking during a broadcast at his state-of-the-art refinery situated in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State, Dangote elaborated on the benefits of this superior-quality fuel.
He stressed that the newly refined petrol’s clarity is not just an aesthetic feature but a reflection of its environmentally friendly characteristics, which are designed to significantly reduce health issues associated with the use of contaminated petroleum products.
“This is the sample of the petrol. You see it as a different colour but that is the real deal. So, you are now going to have good petrol where the engines of your vehicles will last longer,” he said, while presenting a sample of the petrol.
“You will not be having an engine issue which a lot of us were having. It won’t happen at all. The quality here will match tlthat of quality anywhere in the world…we will make sure that nobody will beat us in terms of quality,” he added
Dangote explained that this refined petrol will be a game-changer for engine longevity, as it offers superior protection, minimizing the wear and tear often caused by the substandard, unclear petrol that has dominated the market.
He further emphasized the environmental and health advantages of this cleaner fuel, noting that it will contribute to a reduction in pollution and its related health risks.
In addition to the refined petrol, Dangote highlighted the refinery’s production of a high-quality diesel, introducing a sample of Euro-5 diesel during the broadcast.
“I am sure Nigerians have not seen this colour of diesel before,” Dangote remarked, pointing out that this Euro-5 diesel contains less than 10 parts per million of sulfur.
This significant reduction in sulfur content means that vehicles, engines, and generators running on this diesel will not only last longer but will also operate more efficiently.
Dangote concluded by underscoring the broader impact of these cleaner, higher-quality fuels on both public health and environmental protection.
“The health of the people and the environment will not be compromised. This is the real deal,” he affirmed.
The launch of these refined products from the Dangote Refinery signifies a major advancement in fuel quality within Nigeria and across Africa, promising to raise the bar for environmental and public health standards throughout the continent.
