The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail totaling N1 billion to 109 foreign nationals accused of engaging in sophisticated cybercrime and hacking operations allegedly jeopardizing Nigeria’s security.
According to The PUNCH, presiding over the case on Friday, Justice Ekerete Akpan approved the bail application presented by defense counsel, James Onoja, SAN.
The application was unopposed by the prosecution, represented by A. A. Egwu.
As part of the bail conditions, each defendant is required to provide five sureties. The court mandated that all sureties must own landed properties located within Abuja.
Additionally, they are to submit two recent passport photographs and deposit their travel documents with the court’s deputy registrar.
Justice Akpan emphasized that the sureties must also surrender their own passports to the court.
