The Senior Pastor of Power City International, headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and CEO of Kingdom Life Network, Abel Damina, has expressed strong views about practices within the Catholic Church.
According to the cleric, the church deliberately discourages its members from engaging deeply with the Bible, leading to a lack of understanding and dependence on traditions.
“If the Catholic Church truly encouraged its members to study the Bible carefully, many would question their practices and leave. Their doctrines would be exposed for what they are,” he said.
He argued that Catholic adherents are often unable to engage in meaningful scriptural discussions.
“When you try to discuss the Bible with them, they cannot hold a proper conversation. Instead, they resort to counting the rosary,” he remarked.
The pastor clarified that his intent is not to attack the Catholic Church but to shed light on what he considers doctrinal errors.
“Am I attacking the Catholic Church? No. There’s nothing to attack there. I’m simply exposing the deception,” he stated.
He also criticized the Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation, referring to the Eucharist as misleading.
“They give you bread and say it’s Christ. They claim the priest is invoking Christ, as if Jesus stops everything to ‘travel’ into that bread, to die on the cross all over again. But this time, it’s supposedly bloodless. That’s another gospel entirely,” he explained.
The pastor went further to connect this to the concept of “another Christ,” which he believes aligns with biblical warnings.
“Their priests are referred to as ‘another Christ.’ Isn’t it ironic that Jesus Himself warned us about false Christs rising?”
He emphasized the importance of rescuing people from what he called spiritual deception.
“We have a responsibility to free people from this falsehood. If we don’t, they are heading straight to eternal damnation,” he said.
Through these remarks, the pastor calls for a deeper commitment to studying the Scriptures and breaking free from reliance on traditions that, in his view, contradict biblical teachings.
