A team from Canada is presently in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, to conduct an investigation into the explosion that occurred at the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria, as reported by The PUNCH.
The explosion, which took place on November 6 in the High Commission’s generator house, tragically resulted in the loss of two lives and left two others injured.
In response to the incident, the commission temporarily halted its operations; however, it announced the continued operation of its visa application centers in Lagos and Abuja.
As conveyed in a statement by a Public Affairs staff member of the commission, Demilade Kosemani, made available to reporters on Tuesday, the investigative team from Canada will collaborate with relevant Nigerian authorities to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter.
“Following an explosion in the generator room at the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria on November 6th that claimed two lives and left two others injured, a team of technical experts from Canada arrived in Abuja to conduct a formal investigation to determine the factors and conditions that led to the explosion.
“Efforts are being undertaken to coordinate the work of the Canadian investigation team with the relevant Nigerian authorities in line with their respective mandates,” the statement partly read.
