Barcelona have unveiled their new away kit for the 2024/25 season, introducing a black jersey, marking only the fourth time in the club’s storied history that they’ve embraced this colour.
Following the launch of their home kit in July, the Catalan giants continue to commemorate their 125th anniversary with a design that blends tradition and modernity.
While the home kit paid tribute to the club’s rich heritage, the away kit looks ahead, integrating the club’s signature stripes with a bold black background.
This campaign will see Barcelona don a black design for just the fourth time, following its previous uses in the 2011/12, 2013/14, and 2020/21 seasons.
Barcelona’s past experiences with black kits have been notably successful. In the 2011/12 season, the team wore a black kit for the first time in history, albeit as a third-choice strip, which quickly became a fan favourite.
Pep Guardiola’s side that year clinched both the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
Two years later, the club again donned a black third kit, this time with yellow accents, setting it apart from the inaugural black design.
In the 2020/21 season, Barça returned to black with a minimalist approach, featuring a fully black jersey without any coloured details.
Previously reserved as a third kit, this season, the black jersey will serve as Barcelona’s away kit.
Stars like Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha will wear the sleek design as they chase La Liga glory, hoping to reclaim the title from rivals Real Madrid.
As the season stands, Barcelona leads La Liga by four points over Madrid, remaining unbeaten heading into the international break after victories over Valencia, Athletic Club, and Rayo Vallecano, capped by a 7-0 thrashing of Real Valladolid.
Their next challenge is set for September 15, when they travel to Estadi Montilivi to face Girona under the guidance of Hansi Flick.
