Barcelona have expressed dissatisfaction with the Spanish Football Federation over the scheduling of their rescheduled fixture against Osasuna, originally set for March 8 but postponed indefinitely following the sudden passing of the club’s Miñarro García.
On Monday, the RFEF announced that the game will now take place on March 27, just days after the international break.
This decision has not sat well with Barcelona, as several key players from their South American contingent will be unavailable due to travel constraints.
Both Ronald Araujo and Raphinha will play their second international fixtures late into the break, leaving them unable to return in time for the match.
Barcelona and Osasuna had initially proposed playing the game between May 18 and 25, but the Spanish football authorities rejected this option, citing its proximity to La Liga’s 37th and 38th rounds.
The scheduling also puts Osasuna at a disadvantage, as they have a crucial match against Athletic Bilbao the following night.
With both teams unhappy about the decision, they are expected to submit formal appeals in the coming days in an attempt to secure a more suitable date.
Meanwhile, Barcelona remain in contention for silverware across three competitions, La Liga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey, making fixture congestion an added concern for Hansi Flick’s side.
