Barcelona have reached an agreement to transfer right-back Julian Araujo to Premier League club Bournemouth, according to recent reports.
Araujo, 22, made the move to Barcelona from LA Galaxy in February 2023. Last season, he was on loan at Las Palmas, where he made 28 appearances, despite facing challenges with injuries and suspensions.
According to SPORT, Araujo was aiming to earn a spot in Hansi Flick’s plans this summer. However, after limited opportunities in pre-season, he has opted to continue his career in the Premier League with Bournemouth.
Araujo is scheduled to travel to England on Sunday for a medical examination. If successful, he will sign a five-year contract with the Cherries.
The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days, with The Athletic estimating the transfer fee at €10m, £8.4m, allowing Barcelona to complete further player registrations.
Araujo’s situation is not the only one up in the air at Barcelona. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has disclosed that Rennes is interested in signing 20-year-old centre-back Mikayil Faye, having made a €10m offer.
Barcelona is open to selling Faye, who has yet to make an appearance for the first team, but they are keen on including a buy-back clause in any potential deal. Rennes, however, has only proposed a significant sell-on clause at this stage.
Meanwhile, centre-back Eric Garcia, who recently returned from a loan spell at Girona, has affirmed his commitment to staying with Barcelona next season.
He told RAC1 via SPORT that he is “100%” certain to remain at the club after receiving reassurances from Flick.
