The iconic Australian pop star, Kylie Minogue, has revealed plans for her largest world tour in over a decade, coupled with the release of a follow-up to her triumphant album ‘Tension’.
The sequel, titled ‘Tension II’, is set to feature 13 new tracks and will drop on October 18. Minogue will launch the tour in her native Australia in February, before making stops across Asia and the UK.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Minogue said she is “beyond excited” to celebrate the “Tension era and more” with her global fanbase. She also teased that there will be “a whole lot of Padaming,” a playful nod to her viral 2023 hit, “Padam Padam,” which earned her a Grammy last year.
The 56-year-old singer’s return to the spotlight marks a significant chapter in her storied career, which has seen a resurgence following the release of *Tension* and the success of “Padam Padam.”
Earlier in 2024, she secured her second Grammy win, two decades after her first, and was honored with the Brits’ prestigious Global Icon Award in March.
Minogue’s career has been a remarkable journey since she first appeared as the feisty mechanic Charlene in the popular Australian soap opera ‘Neighbours’ back in 1986.
Over the years, she has released numerous chart-topping singles, amassed an impressive collection of awards, performed at the Sydney Olympics, received an OBE, and even ventured into acting with roles in various films.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the tour, but it has also sparked some logistical concerns. The Newcastle dates coincide with Eurovision, which is taking place in Switzerland in May.
Meanwhile, her Sydney concerts are scheduled at the same time as the city’s annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade, posing a tough choice for her devoted LGBT following.
“What should we do… On a Night Like This?!” one fan commented online, humorously referencing one of Minogue’s classic hits as they grapple with the dilemma of which event to attend.
Despite these clashes, the excitement surrounding both the tour and the new album is palpable, and Minogue’s fans are ready to embrace the next chapter of her extraordinary career.
With only twenty dates announced so far, Minogue has promised that additional shows will be revealed in the near future, ensuring that her vibrant “Tension” era will be celebrated with audiences around the world.
