Yet-to-be-identified assailant has reportedly ripped open a pregnant woman to steal her baby in Mexico.
According to AFP, the authorities through a press statement stated that the alleged perpetrators were arrested with the newborn in their possession.
The pregnant woman was also said to have died after the act was carried out.
According to an official linked with the investigation who pleaded anonymity said that the suspects allegedly sliced open the victim to extract the fetus because the woman attacker was unable to have children herself.
Relatives of the victim told the local media that she was lured to her death through social media with the promise of clothes for her baby, and the media reported that this was the third case of its kind in recent years. The victim’s baby was the target of the promise.
According to the official figures, more than 3,700 women were killed in Mexico in 2021, of which approximately 1,000 were categorized as femicides. Mexico is plagued by high levels of violence.
