The Academic Staff Union of Universities has finally called off its eight-month-old strike.
The decision was made at the conclusion of the National Executive Council meeting, which was held at the ASUU secretariat in Abuja. Although there’s yet to be an official announcement, Punch’s correspondent learned that the strike has been brought to a halt.
A knowledgeable source within the NEC affirmed the news by saying, “Yes, it has been cancelled.”
The insider responded when pressed for more information that, “The president will make an official circular in the morning of Friday.”
Recall that the academic union started the strike eight months ago on Monday, February 14, 2022.
