The clash of two prominent figures in Nigerian media, Asari Dokubo and Reuben Abati, has taken a bitter turn as accusations and insults fly.
The catalyst for this heated exchange was an article penned by Abati titled “Asari Dokubo, Tinubu, and Oil Theft,” in which he criticized Dokubo’s credibility and described him as a “sycophant and attention seeker” who has benefitted from amnesty while claiming to be an activist.
Abati’s words did not go unnoticed, and Dokubo swiftly fired back, denouncing the journalist as a “rogue” who thrives on government handouts.
Dokubo went further to bring up Abati’s own political pursuits, reminding everyone that Abati had once contested in the Ogun governorship election as the running mate to an alleged drug lord.
The exchange between the two figures reveals a deeper rift, with Dokubo accusing Abati of harboring envy and jealousy towards President Bola Tinubu.
In Dokubo’s eyes, Abati’s criticism of him stems from a desire to see Tinubu fail.
