The Nigerian Army has neutralized two terrorists and recovered weapons during a recent operation in Kaduna State.
The operation, which took place in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, was based on credible intelligence, leading to an ambush along the Birnin Gwari-Manini route.
According to a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) by the Army on Monday, the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, resulting in the death of two militants, while others fled.
The Army noted that the operation was part of its ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks across the country.
“Acting on reliable intelligence, our troops deployed in Kwaga village laid an ambush for the terrorists transiting through the Birnin Gwari-Manini axis. This led to an intense firefight where our forces neutralized two terrorists,” the statement read.
During the operation, the Army recovered several items used by the terrorists, including two AK-47 rifles, three rifle magazines, a Baofeng radio, and three motorcycles. The military remains in pursuit of the fleeing insurgents.
“The Nigerian Army continues to demonstrate its resolve in breaking up terrorist networks and delivering decisive blows to fleeing insurgents. Our troops remain committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens,” the Army added.
The military confirmed that efforts to track the wounded terrorists were still ongoing as part of its mission to rid the country of terrorism.
