The Anambra State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers of a popular native doctor, who is an indigene of Oba in the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, Chinedu Nwangwu, popularly called “Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki”
PUNCH METRO reported that the native doctor was said to have been kidnapped from his hotel, Triple P Hotel, Oba, late on Sunday.
Two of his security guards were reportedly shot and killed during the attack, following which he was taken away and his current whereabouts remained unknown.
“Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki na Oba was kidnapped last night at around11.30pm in his hotel and two of his security men were shot dead,” a source said.
The state police public relations officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, verified the event while adding that it took place at 11.30 p.m. on Sunday, even though the specifics of the incident were still vague at the time this story was filed.
There were claims which speculated that he has been released from captivity, however this was dismissed by the state police spokesperson, Ikenga.
“I don’t have such information of his release before me. All I know is that operatives of the command have been ordered by the state Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, to immediately go after the kidnappers.
“CP Adeoye has ordered that operatives go after his abductors and ensure his release,” Ikenga added.
