Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu’s special adviser on Media and Publicity, has resigned, citing pressing family health concerns.
In a statement released on Saturday, Ngelale announced that he had submitted a formal notice to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, informing him of his decision to proceed on indefinite leave.
Ngelale, who also held the positions of Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, stated that his departure was necessary to focus on medical issues affecting his family.
“On Friday, I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President informing my office that I am proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence to frontally deal with medical matters presently affecting my immediate nuclear family,” Ngelale shared in his statement.
He explained that after consulting with his family, the decision was made due to a worsening medical situation.
“While I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonizing decision… was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days,” he said.
Ngelale added that he looks forward to resuming his duties once the situation allows. “I look forward to returning to full-time national service when time, healing, and fate permit,” he stated, requesting privacy for his family during this period.
