Former Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has expressed his frustration over the alleged mistreatment of the Nigerian team by Libyan authorities, calling the situation “inhumane.”
The 32-year-old football star voiced his disappointment with how both the Super Eagles and officials from the Nigerian Football Federation were reportedly handled during their stay in Libya.
Taking to social media, Musa did not hold back his concerns and called for immediate action from the Confederation of African Football.
He urged the football body to investigate the incident thoroughly and impose sanctions on the Libyan Football Federation for what he described as a breach of fair play and sportsmanship.
“I’m extremely disappointed by the unjust treatment of the Super Eagles, the NFF officials, as well as dignitaries in Libya,” Musa wrote on X. “This is not sportsmanship, and I want the football governing body, @CAF_Online, to intervene and investigate this incident. I stand with the players in this difficult time.”
The fallout from the situation has been severe, with the Super Eagles officially pulling out of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Libya, scheduled for Tuesday.
The team, along with NFF officials and other dignitaries, has since begun their journey back to Nigeria.
This incident has sparked widespread outrage, with fans and stakeholders calling for CAF to take a strong stance against any form of mistreatment or abuse, especially when it affects national teams competing under its banner.
