The operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a 23-year-old man identified as Safiyanu Abubakar for intoxicating a student and raping her.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday morning by the State Police Command Public Relations Officer of the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje made available to journalists.
The statement said the youth, Safiyanu Abubakar, a resident of Angwan Chamber in Toungo Local Government Area of southern Adamawa, made the confession to operatives of the state Police Command, who arrested him.
“I took advantage of her vulnerability after mixing Captain Jack (a hot drink) and Coke and making her take it,” Safiyanu told the Police.
Nguroje said the incident took place earlier in the week, September 12.
The Police Spokesperson said, “The suspect, on 12/9/2023 was said to have paid a visit to the Victim (Name with held) as a friend and Good Samaritan but unfortunately he intoxicated her drinks.”
The PPRO said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, had ordered for immediate prosecution of the suspect on completion of investigation.
