The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has invited Adebayo Adeleke, a former Osun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, for questioning.
A media aide to Adeleke, Kazeem Mohammed, confirmed the development on Monday, stating that his principal received the invitation and would comply.
“Some ICPC officials brought the letter to him when he was about to leave the premises of a radio station in Osogbo this evening. He received the letter and promised to honour it at a later date,” Mohammed said.
He dismissed rumors that Adeleke had been arrested, emphasizing that the officials acted professionally. “Those that brought the letter were very civil. He was not arrested. Prince Adeleke even spoke about the invite by the ICPC during a radio programme today, so no cause for alarm,” he added.
The invitation comes amid an ongoing probe into the renovation of Primary Healthcare Centres under the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
The Osun State Government had petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, alleging that certain contracts were awarded to companies linked to prominent All Progressives Congress figures, including Adeleke.
In response to the allegations, Adeleke insisted that he had resigned from the company mentioned in the state government’s petition. He also accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of targeting him for exposing alleged infractions within the government.
“I left that company long ago. This government is after me because I have been revealing the wrongdoings within their administration,” Adeleke asserted.
