The Chairman of the Oyo Metropolitan Development Association, Archbishop Emeritus Ayo Ladigbolu, has affirmed that the majority of Oyo town residents are satisfied with Akeem Owoade’s selection as the next Alaafin of Oyo.
Ladigbolu, an octogenarian and Oyo prince, acknowledged that while some may have reservations about Owoade’s emergence, time would eventually ease any lingering grievances.
“The majority of our people are pleased to have a king. Oyo needs leadership, peace, progress, and prosperity. All hands are on deck in support of a very successful coronation ceremony,” Ladigbolu emphasized.
As a former contender for the revered throne, Ladigbolu noted that the town’s eagerness for strong leadership played a key role in Owoade’s acceptance, adding that his reign is expected to foster unity and growth.
Regarding opposition to Owoade’s ascension, he remarked, “Time will heal the pains of dissenting voices.”
In an exclusive chat with The PUNCH on Thursday, Ladigbolu described the overall atmosphere in Oyo as enthusiastic, with widespread support for the upcoming coronation.
Meanwhile, the Alaafin-designate returned to Nigeria on Wednesday after spending approximately seven weeks in Canada.
His return comes exactly one month ahead of his official coronation ceremony, slated for April 5.
