The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of the Intelligence Response Team to ensure the safe rescue of Afenifere Youth Leader, Prince Eniola Ojajuni, who was abducted on February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, assured Nigerians that the police are fully committed to securing Ojajuni’s release, using all available resources and intelligence.
“The IGP commends the bravery and swift action of our officers, who continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of citizens,” Adejobi stated. “In line with this, he has directed the immediate deployment of the FID Intelligence Response Team to prioritize the safe rescue of Prince Eniola Ojajuni.”
He urged the public to avoid spreading unverified reports about the case, warning that misinformation could endanger the ongoing rescue efforts.
“We advise members of the public to exercise caution and refrain from sharing speculative or unverified information on social media. Such actions could jeopardize the operation and potentially put the victim’s life at risk,” he added.
Meanwhile, the police highlighted recent successes in their operations. In Taraba State, a raid on a suspected criminal hideout at Wamunchi dry-season rice farms on February 26 led to the arrest of 20 suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, a motorcycle, three Dane guns, and a bow and arrow.
Similarly, in Oyo State, police tactical teams, in collaboration with local security outfits, rescued three kidnap victims abducted from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji on February 24. The operation resulted in the arrest of one of the suspected kidnappers.
Adejobi reaffirmed the police force’s dedication to dismantling criminal networks and maintaining security across the country.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to eliminating criminal elements in our communities, with the ultimate goal of ensuring peace and safety for all,” he said.
