The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two individuals, Ibrahim Umar and Usman Abdullahi, for allegedly conspiring to commit housebreaking and theft.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, revealing that the arrests followed an investigation into a complaint filed on February 4, 2025.
According to Abdullahi, a resident named Abdulbasid Haruna reported that unknown persons broke into his home on February 3 at around 1:00 a.m., stealing valuables—including laptops and mobile phones—worth ₦3,200,570.
“We employed the use of technological know-how and tracked down some of the stolen devices, which led to the arrest of the suspects,” he explained.
During the investigation, police recovered all the stolen items, which had reportedly been sold for only ₦80,000. The suspects later confessed to committing the crime.
The police are still searching for a third suspect, Ibrahim Danmariya, who is believed to have purchased the stolen goods.
Abdullahi urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement.
“We appeal to the public to provide useful information that can lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspect,” he said. “We assure the public that all information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.”
The police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and bringing criminals to justice.
