Gunmen have kidnapped seven travellers along the Benin-Owo-Akure Road in the Ifon area of Ose Local Government, Ondo State.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, said the victims were traveling from Akwa Ibom State to the Southwest when they were ambushed on Friday night.
“The incident happened on January 31 at about some minutes to 12 a.m. Seven travellers were involved; they were coming from Akwa Ibom State in a commercial bus,” Odunlami said.
She added that security operatives were already working to rescue the victims and apprehend the culprits.
Meanwhile, a separate abduction reportedly took place along the Owo-Ipele Road, where 10 travellers were kidnapped in the early hours of Saturday.
“There were 10 of them; they were kidnapped around 12 a.m. Their vehicles were stopped, and they were dragged into the bush to an unknown destination,” a source disclosed.
