The Kaduna State Police Command has begun enforcing the mandatory Third-Party Insurance Policy for motor vehicles, effective February 1, 2025.
The move aligns with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the enforcement aims to ensure compliance with the compulsory insurance policy, which provides financial protection for road users in case of accidents involving insured vehicles.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has directed the full enforcement of the mandatory Third-Party Insurance Policy for motor vehicles starting today, February 1, 2025,” Hassan stated.
He explained that the initiative is essential for the safety of road users and to minimize risks associated with road accidents.
“To ensure the protection of all road users, we urge vehicle owners and motorists to obtain valid Third-Party Insurance coverage without delay. Those who fail to comply will face penalties as prescribed by law,” he warned.
The police further advised motorists to secure their insurance policies from accredited providers to avoid sanctions.
“The Third-Party Insurance Policy is compulsory, and we will ensure strict compliance,” Hassan added.
