The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that it will no longer process admissions for the Law programme in eight universities due to a suspension imposed by the Council of Legal Education for the 2025/2026 academic session.
JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, made this known in a statement on Wednesday, explaining that the affected institutions have had their Law programmes suspended by the CLE.
“The Board will not process admissions into the Law programme for the 2025/2026 academic session in these universities due to the suspension by the Council of Legal Education,” Benjamin stated.
The affected universities include, Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State, Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State, Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State, Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State, Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.
Benjamin also noted that the suspension at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, will last for two academic sessions—2025/2026 and 2026/2027—making it the only institution with an extended restriction.
“For the Nigerian Police Academy, the ban on registration for the Law programme will continue through the 2026/2027 academic session,” he added.
The announcement means prospective Law students aiming to apply to any of these universities through JAMB will have to seek alternatives for the upcoming admission cycle.
