Veteran Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, Marshal, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, has stirred controversy following remarks made ahead of the Fidau prayer held in honor of his late mother, Alhaja Halimah Anifowoshe.
The contentious statement, captured in a video that began circulating on Friday, emerged during a conversation K1 had with a man while making preparations for the eight-day Fidau prayer.
In the video, K1 was heard using the phrase “Ga nu si” in reference to some Islamic clerics (Alfas), sparking heated debates online.
Many interpreted the phrase as a critique, implying that certain clerics attend such events primarily for financial gain.
Speaking in Yoruba, the Fuji icon said, “Alfas will not go to my father’s house for the party. It’s my house they will ‘Ga nu si.’ Then we prayed in my house before going back to my father’s house for the main party.”
The remark has drawn criticism from several Muslim clerics and faithful, who expressed displeasure at what they perceived as an offensive comment.
Others, however, shifted their focus to clerics who they claimed often attend social gatherings uninvited.
The Fidau prayer, an important Islamic ritual commemorating the deceased, was held on Friday, January 24.
The event attracted numerous A-list celebrities and prominent Islamic clerics, including Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa, who delivered the sermon.
