Barcelona’s winless streak in LaLiga stretched to four games on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Getafe.
Despite Jules Kounde’s early opener, Mauro Arambarri’s strike leveled the score, leaving the Catalans frustrated and stuck in third place on 39 points.
They trail second-placed Real Madrid by four points and leaders Atletico Madrid by five.
Kounde handed Barcelona the lead in the ninth minute, capitalizing on a sublime assist from Pedri. The French defender made an intelligent diagonal run to collect Pedri’s pass and fired a shot that was initially stopped by goalkeeper David Soria.
However, Soria failed to secure the ball, and Kounde calmly slotted the rebound into the net.
Barcelona had opportunities to extend their advantage, including a close-range header from Raphinha following a Kounde cross, but the Brazilian missed the target.
Moments later, Getafe responded, with Iñaki Peña parrying a Coba da Costa volley directly into the path of Arambarri, who made no mistake from close range.
Despite dominating possession, Barcelona struggled to break down Getafe’s resolute five-man defense.
The usually vibrant Lamine Yamal had a subdued outing, and the forward trio of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Yamal failed to make a significant impact.
Substitute Frenkie de Jong came closest to restoring Barcelona’s lead with a curling effort, only for Soria to deny him with a spectacular one-handed save.
Raphinha later squandered another chance from point-blank range.
Kounde’s goal marked a rare breakthrough for Barcelona at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, where they had failed to score in their last four league visits.
Their last victory at the venue came in September 2019.
The result adds another twist to Barcelona’s turbulent season under Hansi Flick, with the team struggling for consistency. Their last league win dates back to early December against Mallorca.
Reflecting on the draw, Kounde shared his disappointment with Movistar Plus, “I am very frustrated. It’s a pity the draw. We had control of the game, and on one occasion they scored a goal. It’s a pity… we have not got it right… We had opportunities, but we didn’t take them.”
