Barcelona secured a record-extending 15th Spanish Super Cup title on Sunday, overturning an early deficit to claim a commanding 5-2 victory over Real Madrid.
Despite going down to 10 men in the second half, the Catalan side’s electrifying first-half performance proved decisive.
Real Madrid struck first through Kylian Mbappe, who showcased his brilliance with a solo run and a precise shot into the far corner just five minutes into the game.
However, Barcelona responded emphatically.
Lamine Yamal equalized in the 22nd minute, setting the stage for a dominant display.
Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty to put Barca ahead, followed by a sensational header from Raphinha off a Jules Kounde cross in the 39th minute.
Alejandro Balde then capped an extraordinary first half with a goal in stoppage time, giving Barcelona a 4-1 lead at the break.
Raphinha extended the lead further shortly after halftime, making it 5-1.
The game took a twist when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was shown a red card in the 56th minute for bringing down Mbappe.
Rodrygo converted the ensuing free kick, but Real Madrid could not capitalize further as substitute keeper Inaki Pena and Barcelona’s resolute defense held firm to secure the win.
