The Ondo State Police Command has announced the use of drones to bolster security and ensure effective monitoring during the ongoing governorship election in the state.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, in a statement shared with journalists early Saturday.
She said, βGood morning all, please help propagate that the police will be using drones in the state. Anyone who sees this should be rest assured itβs the police drone used for monitoring of the election.β
The deployment is part of a broader security strategy that includes the assignment of over 32,000 police officers to oversee the electoral process.
The election is taking place in 3,933 polling units across 203 wards in the stateβs 18 local government areas.
A total of 18 candidates are contesting the election, with major parties such as the All Progressives Congress Peoples Democratic Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Social Democratic Party, and Zenith Labour Party, being prominent contenders.
