Paris Saint-Germain, head coach, Luis Enrique, has reportedly excluded Ousmane Dembele from the squad set to face Arsenal in Tuesday’s Champions League clash, following a fiery confrontation between the two.
Dembele has been in electrifying form this season, racking up four goals and four assists in just six Ligue 1 appearances.
His contributions were on full display in Friday’s 3-1 victory over Rennes, where he set up the opening goal against his former club.
However, tensions boiled over after the match, as initially reported by RMC Sport and later confirmed by multiple sources.
Dembele, who was substituted late in the game, had a heated exchange with Enrique. The PSG manager was said to be unhappy with certain aspects of the French winger’s performance and didn’t receive the response he was looking for, resulting in a fiery back-and-forth between the two.
The fallout has led Enrique to omit Dembele from the squad traveling to London for the crucial Champions League encounter, leaving PSG without one of their top contributors.
The winger is currently second on the team’s scoring and assist charts.
In a boost to PSG’s hopes, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, left-back Nuno Mendes, and midfielders Vitinha and Desire Doue have all rejoined the squad as the Parisian side seeks their second consecutive Champions League win, following a 1-0 triumph over Girona in their opening fixture.
Dembele’s absence will be a notable blow to PSG, with the French forward having been a key figure in their attacking lineup this season.
His fallout with Enrique now adds an unexpected twist to PSG’s preparations for one of their most high-stakes matches in the competition so far.
