The construction industry in Nigeria is poised for growth, projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 2.4 percent from 2024 to 2028, according to a report from Big 5 Construct.
This insight accompanies the announcement of the 4th edition of its trade exhibition, set to take place from September 24-26, 2024, at the Landmark Centre in Lagos.
According to The PUNCH, in a statement, the Big 5 Construct team highlighted the positive impact of the government’s strategic focus on infrastructure development.
They emphasized, “Thanks to the government’s focused infrastructure development strategies and support. Prioritising economic development, public and private investment in the housing sector, and strengthening external demand. Nigeria’s government is reshaping the industry and the future of the country.”
The 2024 exhibition aims to capitalize on the opportunities arising from ongoing and upcoming construction projects across the nation.
With an anticipated attendance of over 9,000 professionals and 150 exhibitors from 20 countries, the 4th edition of Big 5 Construct Nigeria is set to be the largest construction trade exhibition held in Lagos. It is designed to connect industry professionals to valuable opportunities and partnerships.
The Portfolio Director for Construction at DMG Events, Mehtap Gürsoy, remarked that the timing of Big 5 Construct Nigeria coincides with a significant surge in construction activities in the country.
He noted, “creating significant demand for innovative products and solutions, particularly from key buyers involved in ongoing and upcoming projects in Nigeria’s $128bn construction market (Source: ABIQ).”
This year’s event will feature several new exhibiting companies from a variety of countries.
Among the prestigious international brands participating for the first time are Schneider Electric, a French multinational specializing in digital automation; Swiss Krono, a prominent supplier of wood-based interior design and construction materials; and Framecad International, a UAE-based innovator in steel framing solutions.
Additional participants include Saint Gobain, a French leader in light and sustainable construction; Peri Formwork, known for manufacturing and supplying formwork and scaffolding systems; and Bosch, a renowned German engineering and technology firm.
The Country Business Manager for Bosch Nigeria, Samson Ajayi, shared his excitement about the company’s inaugural participation in the Big 5 Construct Exhibition.
He stated that they would showcase the GWS 30-230, a new angle grinder designed specifically for heavy-duty construction applications.
Local companies will also make their debut at the event, including Scavin, a provider of plastic solutions; Cormart Nigeria, a leading supplier of chemical raw materials; and African Industries, Nigeria’s largest steel manufacturer.
Additionally, Savvytech, an engineering and procurement service provider; Purechem Industries, known for its green building products; and Vitapur Nigeria, a leader in insulation manufacturing, will also present their offerings.
Ajayi further emphasized, “We will also feature the GRL 600 rotational laser from our measuring tools section, offering 360° precision, along with a selection of accessories and our latest car technologies, all designed to meet specific needs of construction activities.”
