The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that four people were killed and 20 others injured in a multiple-vehicle accident that occurred in Ikeji-Arakeji, along the Ilesa/Akure expressway in Osun State on Thursday.
According to The PUNCH, the Osun Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Taofeek Sokunbi, confirmed the details of the incident, attributing the accident to excessive speed.
“The accident involved three vehicles, including two buses and a truck. Unfortunately, four people died—three female adults and one male adult,” he said.
Sokunbi added that the accident occurred at a location with speed bumps in Ikeji-Arakeji and stressed the need for caution on the roads.
“The cause of the accident is excessive speed. We have since cleared the crash site,” he stated.
He urged drivers to be more careful, saying, “I want to urge drivers to drive carefully because speeding was the main cause of this accident. It was carelessness on the part of the drivers.”
The FRSC has since cleared the site of the crash, but the incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of reckless driving on Nigerian roads.
