Europe’s largest sportswear manufacturer, Adidas, has unveiled a striking selection of third kits for the 2024/25 football season, with Manchester United and Arsenal among the top clubs showcasing new ‘iconic’ designs.
The sports giant clinched the summer award for the best kit announcement by revealing the third strips of five European football powerhouses.
To mark the occasion, Adidas released a visually captivating campaign featuring five football legends, sending social media into a frenzy.
The clubs have since revealed their new strips, confirming that fans can purchase them starting August 12.
Among the standout designs is Arsenal’s light blue third kit, modeled by the legendary Patrick Vieira.
The kit, which had already been leaked in May and received positive feedback from Arsenal supporters, pays homage to Vieira’s illustrious career at the club, where he achieved two domestic doubles and played a key role in their historic unbeaten Premier League campaign.
The campaign’s star-studded lineup includes Rio Ferdinand, Patrick Vieira, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Zinedine Zidane, and Alessandro Del Piero—icons of their respective clubs.
Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid have also unveiled stylish new kits, each featuring the return of Adidas’ classic trefoil symbol.
In celebration of its upcoming 75th anniversary in 2025, Adidas has reintroduced its iconic Trefoil logo on the new third kits.
This decision aligns with the brand’s current emphasis on reviving its heritage and classic football designs, according to Sam Handy, Adidas Football’s Vice President of Product and Design.
During the launch, Sam Handy highlighted the growing connection between football and fashion, stating, “Football and fashion currently co-exist in a proximity that has never been seen before.
“Our adidas trefoil logo represents sporting elegance, authentic style, and evokes a deep sense of nostalgia for many fans. As we celebrate the brand’s 75th anniversary, it’s the perfect moment to blend these two worlds and bring the trefoil back onto the pitch.
“It was important for us to extent the legacy of the trefoil by creating new fashionable icons. Third jerseys allow our team to collaborate with the clubs to dig deep into their history and modern culture for new inspiration, and they are often worn by fans as a fashion statement away from the stadium environment.
“We designed these new kits with one simple mantra in our mind – beautiful kits for the beautiful game.”
Manchester United’s new third kit, which features a white base with red and black stripes, also brings back the beloved Red Devil logo.
Rio Ferdinand, who spent 12 triumphant years at United, winning the Premier League six times and the Champions League in 2008, was chosen to represent the kit in the campaign.
As the new season approaches, United will kick off their campaign on Friday with a home game against Fulham at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils recently faced Manchester City in the Community Shield, but narrowly missed out on silverware as Pep Guardiola’s side triumphed on penalties.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will begin their quest to end a 20-year Premier League title drought on Saturday, hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates.
The Gunners ended their pre-season on a high note, securing a 2-0 victory over Lyon, with goals from William Saliba and Gabriel, following earlier wins against Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester United.
Adidas’ highly anticipated new third kits will be available for purchase starting Monday, August 12.
