The villagers killed in the Sunday attack in Adama Gindin Dutse community, Doka, in Kufana District of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been given a mass burial.
The victims were burnt beyond recognition, hence the mass burial on Monday.
Meanwhile, survivors on Monday recounted their ordeals, bemoaning that the hoodlums burnt victims after killing them.
Gunmen suspected to be bandits in their numbers invaded the community around 6 am on Sunday, killing the villagers and setting their houses ablaze.
The State Government, through the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Sunday, decried the attack and directed the State Emergency Management Agency, to provide assistance to the victims.
One of the survivors, who preferred anonymity, revealed how he escaped from the attackers, noting that it was just the grace of God that saw him through.
He stated further that he escaped and hid inside the animals’ hut, saying that he was able to make calls to soldiers, who responded immediately, forcing the attackers to leave the area.
“This is a remote village, and as far as we are concerned, they only came to wipe the community completely with the way they killed and set people’s bodies on fire,” he said.
He then urged the Governor of the State, Uba Sani, to as a matter of urgency, deploy more security personnel to the area, stating that foodstuff should also be provided to the villagers to cushion their suffering.
