A massive gas explosion has reportedly occurred at Iju Ishaga area of Lagos on Tuesday night creating panic for the residents.
The incident was confirmed by the National Emergency Management Agency, urging the residents not to panic.
NEMA’s Information and Public Relations, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, disclosed that a store with cooking gas exploded, resulting in massive fire, which affected some buildings at Ogun Street, Balogun bus stop.
He said, ”People around Iju Ishaga should calm down and avoid panic. The gas explosion at Ogun Street, Balogun Bus Stop has been brought under complete control of the Lagos State Fire Service.”
The NEMA added; “It was reported that a store with a cooking gas cylinder exploded that after restoration electricity, an explosion started.”
Farinloye noted, “Fire Service has brought the situation under control completely”.
Meanwhile, casualty figures at the scene of the explosion could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
