Operatives of Amotekun corps in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, Police and Civil Defence in Ondo State have apprehended sixty two suspected criminals including six notorious kidnappers who had been terrorising Owo-Ose-Akoko areas of the state.
According to Tribune, the Commander of Amotekun corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye made this known during the parade of the suspects in Akure the State capital.
He attributed the various successes recorded in the year 2023 to effective synergy among security agencies in the state.
Chief Adeleye said the ember months joint patrol introduced in September was strategic to ensure safety of lives and properties of residents and travellers in the state.
The commander who is also the Special adviser to the State Governor on Security matters disclosed that one of the suspects Usman Garba raided and set ablaze many buildings at a village in Ose-Owo axis when the villagers attempted to expose their activities.
He said the whole community was torched and razed by the kidnappers who ran away after carrying out the act, leaving most residents of the community homeless.
However, the Amotekun men, while acting on a tip-off, stormed the kidnappers’ den, arresting five members of the gang while some of them took to their heels.
