Twenty-three-year-old Sheynnis Palacios, a model and beauty queen hailing from Nicaragua, achieved a historic milestone as she was crowned Miss Universe 2023 during the 72nd annual beauty pageant held in San Salvador on Saturday night.
Eclipsing 83 other contestants, Sheynnis made history by becoming the first-ever delegate from Nicaragua to clinch the prestigious Miss Universe title, as reported by the Daily Mail on Sunday.
This triumph marks a significant point in Sheynnis’s journey in the world of pageantry, having commenced her foray into national pageants at the young age of 16.
During the coronation ceremony, Sheynnis displayed consistent excellence, impressing the judges in both the swimsuit segment and the evening gown competition, securing her progression to the subsequent rounds.
Stating her aspirations, the Miss Universe organization highlighted Sheynnis’s life goal: to serve humanity by spearheading a newsroom and crafting content, including commercials for international brands.
Aside from Sheynnis’s remarkable victory, the event witnessed several historic firsts, notably the participation of two mothers, two transgender women, and a plus-size individual, signifying a diverse and inclusive representation.
The crowning moment saw Sheynnis receiving the prestigious title from last year’s winner, R’Bonney Nola Gabriel of the United States of America.
