English Premier League side Manchester United have reached an agreement with Serie A side Atalanta over the signing of striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The 20-year-old was left out of the squad that played Bournemouth in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The deal has been confirmed by popular Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who posted on late Saturday, “Rasmus Hjlund to Manchester United agreement sealed now.
“The final package will be worth more than €70 million. The deal will include add-ons, and an agreement has been reached. Hjlund signs until June 2028, plus option 2029.
“Rasmus Hojlund ONLY wanted Manchester United as his biggest dream, and it’s done”.
With more than £100 million of United’s initial £120 million budget already spent on Andre Onana and Mason Mount, it is anticipated that a portion of the possible transfer fee will be covered by player sales.
Manchester United signed Onana to replace David Degea for an initial €51m (£43.8m) plus €4m (£3.4m) in potential add-ons.
Before this, the Red Devils signed Mason Mount from Chelsea in a deal worth an initial £55 million.
The club is currently looking at a £30 million move for Sofyan Amrabat, who impressed in Morocco’s run to the Qatar 2022 World Cup semi-finals and would cost about £30 million.
The 26-year-old represents an upgrade on Scott McTominay, last season’s deputy to Casemiro in the holding role.
Through the departures of Zidane Iqbal, Ethan Laird, Alex Telles, and Anthony Elanga, more than £20 million has been raised, but more will be required.
