An elderly Ecuadoran woman has reportedly woken up from inside her coffin, two days after declared dead.
A viral clip making rounds on Twitter showed moment when Bella Montoya, 76, was breathing heavily in her open coffin while two assisted her.
Her son, Gilbert Balberán, said “she was hitting the box” with her left hand after the five-hour wake.
After Montoya was pronounced dead on Friday at the Martin Icaza public hospital in the coastal hamlet of Babahoyo, Balberán was forced to arrange for the donation of a coffin for the struggling family.
“They even gave us a death certificate,” he said in a video broadcast by local media.
“My mom is on oxygen. Her heart is stable. The doctor pinched her hand and she reacted,”he added.
