‘Gaslighting’ most searched word in 2022, says Dictionary

The Merriam Webster Dictionary bas confirmed that the word, ‘gaslighting’ is their word of the year 2022.

This was disclosed by the dictionary on Monday through a statement.

According to them, interest in the word was up by 1,740% over the previous years.

Other words with high search rates include, ‘oligarch,’ ‘codify,’ ‘LGBTAQIA,’ ’sentient,’ ‘omicron,’ ‘queen consort,’ and others.

According to the dictionary, gaslighting is “the act or practice of grossly misleading someone especially for one’s own advantage.”
