Human rights activist and the African Action Congress presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Omoyele Sowore, was reportedly assaulted on Saturday morning by suspected thugs during the Lagos City Marathon.
Sowore, who was participating in the event alongside his media crew, came under attack from the hoodlums, who also targeted journalists covering the marathon.
Several victims sustained injuries, while cameras and other equipment were vandalized.
A viral video captured the moment the assailants physically attacked Sowore, his team, and the journalists.
In the footage, one of the thugs was seen gripping a journalist by the neck while he held his camera.
