The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 52-year-old man for raping a 13-year-old girl in Sangere Jabbi Lamba, Girei Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a press release on Monday.
According to Nguroje, the suspect, who is the vice principal of a secondary school, on Tuesday last week, lured the victim to an uncompleted building where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
The statement read, “The suspect one Enoch Kwaleji a resident of salama House Sangere jabbi lamba,Girei was said to have on the 15/11/2022 at about 1900hrs lured the victim to an uncompleted building and forcefully had undue carnal knowledge of her.
“The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Jabbi lamba by the victim’s mother.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the Suspect is a vice principal at government girls secondary school (GGSS) senior section, Abba Murke in Song local government area.”
The Commissioner of police, according to the statement, frowned at the irritable incident and has directed the officer in charge of Family unit to take over the investigation and ensure deligent prosecution.
The police Boss also advised members of the public particularly parents to be watchful of their childrens especially the girl child against criminal minded element who are roaming about seeking who to take advantage of.
He equally assures the Adamawa State government and the general public of the command’s unrelenting effort to see that it end all forms of gender based violence and promised immediate prosecution of any perpetrator found wanting.
