The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that all intending pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj must receive the polio vaccine at least six weeks before departure.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Abdulrahman Idris, made this known during a press briefing at the board’s headquarters in Bauchi on Tuesday.
He emphasized that the directive was issued by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to safeguard the health of Nigerian pilgrims.
“All the 2,200 intending pilgrims registered with the board are required to take the polio vaccine. Any pilgrim who fails to comply will not be allowed to travel,” Idris stated.
He further revealed that the registration for this year’s Hajj has officially closed, adding that preparations, including the distribution of essential travel items such as uniforms, bags, and other necessities, would be completed within the next two weeks.
Additionally, he urged those who have yet to submit their required documents, including passport photographs with a white background, to do so promptly to facilitate visa processing.
“Pilgrims must cooperate with the board to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj operation,” he appealed.
Regarding payments, Idris noted that those who have not completed their Hajj fare have the option to either request a refund or leave the funds with the board until next year’s pilgrimage.
