In the proposed 2025 appropriation bill, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Department of State Services are set to allocate a combined N2bn for fueling their operational vehicles.
This comes as part of President Bola Tinubu’s N47.90tn budget, which he presented to the National Assembly on December 18, branding it the “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace and Rebuilding Prosperity.”
A closer look at the bill reveals that the EFCC has earmarked N808.7m specifically for fueling its vehicles, while another N462m is designated for refreshments and meals throughout the year.
On the other hand, the DSS has allocated N1.37bn for fueling its vehicles and N1.4m for purchasing tactical counter-terrorism equipment.
Additionally, the DSS has proposed a budget of N1.4bn for arms and ammunition procurement, with another N1.1bn set aside for advanced cybersecurity tools.
Overall, the DSS, together with other agencies under the Office of the National Security Adviser, is allocated N960bn for maintaining national defense aircraft and acquiring security equipment, underscoring the administration’s focus on enhancing national security.
In total, the N4.91tn earmarked for defense and security in the budget highlights the administration’s dedication to addressing the country’s security challenges.
