At least 11 people sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway’s Interchange section early Saturday morning.
The incident, which involved a truck and two passenger buses, occurred around 7:30 am near the Cway junction, a few meters from Heyden Filling Station.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the details in a statement.
According to him, the accident was caused by a collision between a Mazda bus and a truck attempting to enter the premises of a private company along the route.
“A serious crash occurred involving a Mack truck and an 18-seater Mazda bus at the Cway junction,” Akinbiyi said. “An eyewitness reported that the truck driver was trying to maneuver into Cway Company when the Mazda bus, moving at excessive speed, collided with it. A Toyota Hiace bus coming from behind also lost control and crashed into the scene.”
He revealed that 21 individuals were involved in the accident, including 12 men and nine women, with 11 suffering injuries—eight men and three women.
“The vehicles involved were a Mazda bus (SMK 554 YH), a Mack truck (FNN 934 XA), and a Toyota Hiace bus (KJA 995 XA). The injured were rushed to Idera Hospital in Sagamu by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC),” he added.
